Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital

Our goal in Trauma research is to conduct high quality, multidisciplinary (includes other health care fields) studies that advances knowledge, impacts care, and improves both immediate and long term outcomes for the injured child. We are dedicated to helping kids through innovative research that includes prevention programs, prehospital care, and outreach initiatives that increase public awareness of trauma related injuries.

James W. “Trey” Eubanks, III, MD, FACS

Dr. James “Trey” Eubanks, III serves as the Surgeon-in-Chief at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery. He’s a professor of surgery and pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Eubanks is board certified in general and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Certification. His clinical interests include pediatric trauma, chest wall abnormalities, foregut anomalies, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical quality. In addition, he is a member of several committees and organizations locally, regionally, and nationally including the Board of Directors of the Trauma Center Association of America and the Tennessee Trauma Care Advisory Council.

The Trauma Center at Le Bonheur is led by Medical Director Regan Williams, MD. Dr. Williams is an associate professor of surgery and pediatrics at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery with special qualifications in pediatric surgery. Her clinical interests include neonatal surgery, general and thoracic pediatric surgery, trauma surgery and burn care

  • Over 25 active pediatric trauma studies.
  • Publications from both prospective and retrospective studies, case reports, technique papers and presentations.
  • Active collaboration with other children’s hospitals and organizations around the country.
